About Me

Hello!

My name is Christian Fortner, and I am starting this blog for my Intro to Psychology class at Hardin-Simmons University. I will be posting about the things I learn in the class and things I do for the class. Here's a little bit about myself!

I am currently 18 years old, and I am from Leander, Texas, just north of Austin. I also lived in Kansas City, Missouri for 7 years before I moved to Austin. I am a Freshman at HSU in Abilene, Texas, studying Music Composition and Theory. Since I'm a music major, it's obvious that I love music. I especially love epic orchestral stuff, like trailer music and movie soundtracks. My favorite composer is Thomas Bergersen, a Norwegian composer who writes stuff for a trailer music company called Two Steps From Hell. I also really like Hans Zimmer, James Horner, and Eric Whitacre. They are my biggest inspirations for writing music, and I hope to one day publish music like theirs.

I like to write in my free time, though I haven't gotten to do much of that lately, since you don't have much free time in college. I've journaled since my Sophomore year in high school, and I don't plan on purposely stopping. I'm a fan of journaling because it tells one's story through their own eyes. Everyone has a story and everyone has a personality. Learning someone's story and personality are very intriguing to me.

I don't have a huge background in psychology, but I've always been fascinated by it. I want to know why people make certain decisions through their mind and heart processes, and why others make different ones. I want to see how their individual stories and experiences have played a role in the formation of those processes. The human mind goes hand-in-hand with the heart. I want to see how big of an influence they have on each other from person to person. Hopefully I'll get an idea the further into this class I go!
